Are At Home Lifestyle Family Photo Sessions Laid Back And Relaxed, or Intense And Stressful?
Do you have concerns about your children being shy around their photographer, and then not getting photos that truly capture their personality? Are you stressed about bringing someone into your home, and imagining all of the cleaning you’ll need to do?
One suggestion if you have shy kids, is to have your family session at your home!
Then, we can photograph your children in their element, perhaps reading, crafting, or playing legos. Then, your shy kids will have time to see that having their photo taken will be easy and low stress. They will also get to know me a little bit and start to interact with me freely, showing me their unique personalities and their favorite treasures.
No Need To Super Clean
I do recommend that families pickup to a level they are comfortable having photos taken, but there is no need to do a super deep clean before your photo session. Depending on the available quantity and quality of light I often move chairs and furniture for some of the photos…so don’t worry about how everything looks. Creating photos that truly show what your environment looks like is a treasure.
Family Pets Are Great During At Home Photo Sessions
It’s so fun to include dogs, cats, fish, even hamsters in your photo session! The family pets can easily be involved in your photographs without having to worry about leashing them when they are not involved in photos. This way we can quickly pull them into a few different set ups, or areas of your home, and then let them do their thing! You will know that they are safe and relaxed at home.

No need to stress about the weather when we’re planning your photo session at your home.
A great bonus to at home family photo sessions, particularly in the rainy Pacific Northwest, is that we are indoors, and don’t need to worry about the weather! I’ll explore your home for beautiful pockets of light, and unique architectural details to create your images. If you have a newly renovated area you would like to highlight, let’s check it out. We can also create lovely images outside of your home, regardless of the weather.
