When is the best time for family photos at home?

Family photos at home are perfect for all seasons!

If you have a pet who can’t leave the house, or would be nervous or challenging to manage during an on location photo session having your photos at your home can be the perfect answer, and it doesn’t matter what time of year it is.

Fall Family Photos At Home

Having your family photos at your home during fall can be lovely because we can capture the beauty surrounding your home and yard during the fall season, including the beautiful fall leaves. If you have other holiday decor up, such as for back to school, Halloween, or Thanksgiving it just adds a little element of storytelling to the images about what time of year you are in during your photo session.

Winter Family Photos At Home

Many people may shy away from winter family photos due to the holiday season and cooler outdoor temperatures, but this is a great season for an in home family photo session. If your session is before Christmas or Hanukkah we can incorporate your decorations into the photo session. And, if your session is after the holidays winter is a perfect time for couch snuggles and playing board games by the fire place. All we need for family photos at home is a good window to sit by, and we can have a great session.

Spring Family Photos At Home

Most families have a favorite tree or bush that flowers during the spring, and it can be so fun to incorporate that lovely outdoor space during the spring into your family photo session at home. Spring is also a season for new, fresh beginnings, and that feeling can be translated into your family photo session. Another great reason to have your spring family photos at home is that the weather in spring is often quickly changing, from cool to warm, but when you have your photos at home you don’t need to worry about the weather. We will explore all of the lovely areas of your home that you enjoy, and it’s easy to throw on a sweater if needed…since you are at home!

Summer Family Photos At Home

Summer is one of our most beautiful seasons here in the Portland area, and it can be a great time for family photos at home. We don’t need to worry about it being too hot, as we can enjoy your AC, you can select easy breezy summer outfits, and don’t need to worry about staying layered up for outdoor cool temps, or need to worry about getting too sweaty outside in the summer. If you have a nice outdoor space where you hang out in the evenings, this can be a great time to relax in that space and capture those evenings with a backyard photo session as well.
