How To Have a Stress Free Maternity Session

Does the thought of planning for a photo session cause you stress? Well…I definitely don’t want you to feel concerned or stressed preparing for your maternity session…as you have plenty to be worried about during pregnancy, and photos should not be one of them.

So, I’m going to give you my favorite tips to help and have a stress free Maternity Photo Session.

Plan your outfit(s) ahead of time

Once you have an idea of what you’d like to wear for your photo session, I recommend trying on the outfits and snapping a photo of them in a mirror. Double check that you 1) feel comfortable 2) can easily walk around and breathe, and 3) that you have selected an outfit that is YOU AND highlights your bump.

I am happy to check out what yo are considering wearing for your maternity photos, and you can email me the photos of what you are thinking to wear. Once you have selected your outfit, then go ahead and choose clothes for your partner and / or family who are joining you for your photos.

Select an outfit that is comfy and has some room to grow

By selecting a comfy outfit you will ensure you arrive to the session as comfortable as possible (knowing you may be uncomfortable while you are pregnant) and that you aren’t causing any unnecessary discomfort with your outfit.

Also, ensure that you are choosing an outfit which has room to grow. The time period towards the end of your pregnancy will see lots of bump growth…so ensuring your outfit is made to grow will leave confidence it will fit well on picture day.

Select an easy location

Maternity photos are definitely not the time for us to go on a major hike, far from the car or the restroom…so I think that it’s best to choose a location that is within your fitness level, close to parking, and has many places to easily sit and rest if needed.

Wear comfortable shoes

Ensuring that your shoes are safe and comfortable for walking is a must. We don’t want you to risk tripping during your photo session, or to become uncomfortable. Think about cute comfort when selecting your shoes.

I hope that these tips will help to decrease any stress that you may have when preparing for your maternity photo session. If you have any questions, please reach out in the comments.
