Reach Out Early In Your Pregnancy

It’s best to reach out to your dream photographer early in your pregnancy as many talented newborn photographers have a set limit to the number of newborn clients they can accommodate each month.

Timing Depends On Session Type

Also, photographers have a specified time that they prefer to photograph their newborn clients, depending on the type of service that they provide. I offer fresh 48 (birth space/hospital) newborn sessions which are always photographed during the first 48 hours after the baby is born prior to discharge from the hospital or birth center. And, I also offer lifestyle in home newborn photo sessions. These are best in the first 5-15 days after birth if you want more ‘sleepy baby’ photos, but can be done any time while that baby is new! Even up to 2 months would be considered a newborn…so, if you missed the immediate newborn window but want photos, I’d say to reach out to your photographer right away.

Also Interested In Maternity Photos?

By contacting your photographer early in your pregnancy, you can also discuss having a maternity photo session with them. This is a great way to get to know your photographer, and many offer a bundle deal for maternity and newborn sessions, and even 6-12 month milestone sessions bundles as well.

Some newborn photographers offer both birth space (fresh 48) hospital newborn sessions and in home or studio newborn sessions. By starting your research process early you can learn what your dream photographer offers, and have time to plan for the session or sessions you desire.

Planning for the arrival of your newborn baby includes a long to do list, and by getting your newborn photographer organized well in advance of your delivery, you are able to check one thing off of your to do list, ensuring you are not having stress surrounding the booking of your dream newborn photographer. Also, by booking with your newborn photographer early, you can be sure to prepare anything needed for your session prior to your delivery, ensuring that you are prepared and know what to expect for your session.
